With 17.62 million passengers (2017), 116 check-in desks and over 120 other destinations such as shops and service points, Hamburg Airport is the fifth largest airport in Germany. In order to facilitate orientation for visitors, the airport management introduced a digital wayfinding system in August 2018, which runs on-site on kiosk systems and on any smartphone without the need of an installation. After the pilot phase, further innovative features such as boarding pass scanners shall simplify the quick operation for the visitor.

3d-berlin created the usability concept and design and provides the building map with all common navigation functions as well as the application for mobile devices. The following solution partners are also involved: Grassfish (frontend programming) and eKiosk (hardware).
